Title IX: Celebrating 50 Years of Equity in Education
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 is celebrating 50 years of supporting equity in education.
Fifty years ago, Congress passed Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972. Many associate this as being the most significant step forward toward equity in athletics, but the passage of Title IX did much more than that.
Title IX requires that all educational institutions that receive federal funds or financial assistance prohibit sex discrimination in all educational programs and activities, including recruitment, student admissions, financial assistance, housing, access to academic offerings and athletics.
Title IX Updates
