Blacks in Wax

Blacks in Wax

The African American Cultural Center, in collaboration with AYA Ambassadors, presents the 2020 Blacks in Wax Live Museum! The Blacks in Wax Live Museum provides our community with the opportunity to allow history to come to life as we reenact moments in African American history for the community’s education and entertainment. This year, we are opening this opportunity to students, alumni, faculty, staff and their children. Through this event, aim to promote a sense of community through service while fostering an environment that encourages interactions outside of the classroom or office. This is a great service opportunity that not only impacts our campus, but the minds of all ages and ethnic backgrounds! The live museum will be available to tour Saturday, February 22th, 2020 from 10am-2pm in Witherspoon Student Center, 2810 Cates Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27606.

GROUP ATTENDANCE
We encourage community agencies, schools and large families to attend as a group! To ensure that we have enough space in the hour that you plan to come, we ask that you notify us of your group’s information. Please fill out our group form to let us know the size of your group and what tour time you would like to reserve. Groups are more than 9 people.

GET INVOLVED
The Blacks in Wax planning committee is recruiting participants. You can get involved in one of two ways: acting or volunteering. Every room in Witherspoon Student Center is used to feature over 50 activities, educators, entertainers, scholars and so on. It takes an additional 20+ to serve as greeters, tour guides or other support roles to ensure the day runs smoothly. Please consider signing up for a role below:

Character representatives are expected to portray someone who has made a significant contribution to African American history and culture. For the represented character, please prepare brief biographical facts as well as the impact on our community.
