Women’s Herstory Month to be Inclusive and Intersectional

NC State celebrates Women’s Herstory Month throughout the month of March with the theme of “Unapologetically Women: Forging and Healing Our Collective Memories.” The theme emphasizes the right of women to be themselves without apology and acknowledges the many different paths and perspectives that comprise women's perspectives and lived experiences.

Women’s Center Welcomes New Associate Director for IPV

Janine Kossen joins NC State as associate director of the Women's Center, focusing on interpersonal violence (IPV) services. In her role, Kossen will oversee and supervise IPV prevention efforts, programming and outreach, student leadership development, partnership and collaboration and direct advocacy services for students.

The Women's Center and the African American Cultural Center have partnered to bring "The Politics of Black Hair" to NC State. The exhibit will run through March 21, 2018 in the African American Cultural Center Gallery on the second floor of Witherspoon Student Center.

Dancing Around the World Combines Fun, History and Culture

For the second year, the Staff Senate Diversity Committee will partner with the student ballroom dance club, Dancing with Wolves, to host Dancing Around the World. The initiative aims to create an inclusive environment and address diversity resistance by drawing students and employees through the common interests of music and dance.

GLBT Center Hosts Inaugural Queer Youth Leadership Summit

On Saturday, February 17, 2018 the GLBT Center hosted thirty-five high school students from across the Triangle area for its inaugural Queer Youth Leadership Summit (QYLS). QYLS provided leadership development, social justice advocacy training, coalition-building and capacity-increasing opportunities for GLBT high school students.

Arts NC State to Provide Accessible Showings of Upcoming Productions

A member program of Arts NC State, University Theatre provides quality theatrical, artistic and practical experiences for the NC State and Triangle communities. This month, University Theatre prepares for its fourth main stage show Hairspray, The Broadway Musical. On Friday, February 23, 2018 at 7:30 pm, University Theatre will provide accessibility showings of the production with audio descriptions and closed captioning.

GLBT Center 10-Year Anniversary Brings Community Together

After a rescheduling due to January snow, the GLBT Center celebrated its 10-year anniversary on Monday, February 12, 2018 in the Talley Student Union Ballroom. Over 150 students, alumni, staff, faculty and administrators came to celebrate this historic achievement.
