Welcome to the African American Cultural Center Library & Media Room!
A fully-integrated part of NCSU Libraries, the African American Cultural Center Library and Media Room houses over 7,000 titles and is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. This peaceful haven is adjacent to the African American Cultural Center Art Gallery on the second floor of Witherspoon Student Center on Cates Avenue. Librarian Angela Jenkins provides a virtual tour of the facility.
The Tunnel of Oppression Needs YOU!
The planning process is underway for the 2016 Tunnel of Oppression, an annual interactive program that examines issues of race, religion, sexual orientation, ability, nationality, gender identity and sexual violence. Participants are guided through a series of scenes designed to create awareness about contemporary examples of oppression and to help them think critically about both the nature and impact of such oppression.

Dr. Craig Brookins, associate professor of Psychology and Africana Studies and director of Interdisciplinary Degree Programs in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, tells the Digest about his perspectives on diversity and equity in the university setting.
MLK Campus Commemoration Inspires
Byron Pitts of ABC’s Nightline graced the NC State campus with his encouraging message on Monday, January 11, 2016 for this year's MLK commemoration. With over 30 years of experience, Pitts shared his message of "overcoming to become" and paying it forward for the campus listeners. Before Pitts went on stage, the African American Cultural Center and Student Media held a small lunch for aspiring journalism and media students.
GLBT Advocate Program Offers Education and Engagement Opportunities for Faculty and Staff
Launched in August 2015, the GLBT Advocate Program is set to begin its second semester as a continuing education and engagement program for NC State faculty and staff.

Caneatra Wilson is a senior majoring in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing, from Grifton, North Carolina. She is also a student intern in the Office for Institutional Equity and Diversity (OIED).

The GLBT Center, Women’s Center, Multicultural Student Affairs and African American Cultural Center will co-host the second annual Social Justice January featuring guest lecturer and workshop facilitator Dr. Ravi Perry.
