Welcome to the African American Cultural Center Library & Media Room!

A fully-integrated part of NCSU Libraries, the African American Cultural Center Library and Media Room houses over 7,000 titles and is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. This peaceful haven is adjacent to the African American Cultural Center Art Gallery on the second floor of Witherspoon Student Center on Cates Avenue. Librarian Angela Jenkins provides a virtual tour of the facility.

The Tunnel of Oppression Needs YOU!

The planning process is underway for the 2016 Tunnel of Oppression, an annual interactive program that examines issues of race, religion, sexual orientation, ability, nationality, gender identity and sexual violence. Participants are guided through a series of scenes designed to create awareness about contemporary examples of oppression and to help them think critically about both the nature and impact of such oppression.

MLK Campus Commemoration Inspires

Byron Pitts of ABC’s Nightline graced the NC State campus with his encouraging message on Monday, January 11, 2016 for this year's MLK commemoration. With over 30 years of experience, Pitts shared his message of "overcoming to become" and paying it forward for the campus listeners. Before Pitts went on stage, the African American Cultural Center and Student Media held a small lunch for aspiring journalism and media students.
