Building Future Faculty Program to Return to Campus

Building Future Faculty workshop

The Building Future Faculty program (BFF) will return to an in-person experience for over 20 participants on March 30 – April 1, 2022. BFF is a three-day residential program focused on providing participants with a transformational and preparatory experience for faculty career exploration and development. The program welcomes doctoral candidates, post-doctoral students and professionals from institutions of higher education in the United States. The program offers an exploratory dive into the process for applying, interviewing, accepting and succeeding in a faculty role.

Participants for the 2022 cycle of the Building Future Faculty program were selected from over 200 stellar applicants from 13 states and 15 institutions and come to NC State with a diverse mosaic of identities, cultures and experiences. The program will once again partner with every NC State college to provide mentorship and engagement with the participants while continuing to create a legacy of contributing to the increase in representation of underrepresented narratives and identities in academia. BFF participants this year represent the following programs:

  • Nuclear Engineering
  • Physics
  • Biological Sciences
  • Food, Bioprocessing and Nutrition Sciences
  • Communication
  • Textile and Apparel, Technology and Management

Diverse representation in higher education leads to positive transformational outcomes for students, faculty, staff and community stakeholders. The BFF programs seeks to empower participants with confidence, preparation and community as a means of encouraging success and fostering collaborative efforts to catalyze success. In partnership with faculty and staff across NC State and our growing community of BFF alumni, the program seeks to serve this growing need and deliver on the program mission.
