UT Out Loud: The House of Bernarda Alba

September 10, 2021 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm

The five daughters of Bernarda Alba have been sentenced to eight years of seclusion, mourning the recent death of their father. But erotic intrigues and exquisite longings cannot be contained in a house of cloistered daughters. A poetic drama by Federico García Lorca, one of the 20th century’s greatest dramatists, permeates this tragic masterpiece of matriarchal despotism. This new adaptation by Chay Yew was nominated for Outstanding Adaptation by the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle.
Join University Theatre’s Out Loud Series, a casual theatre experience for first-timers and seasoned theatre lovers alike, as we read aloud plays by both student and professional playwrights. Attendees have the opportunity to read a character, pause the reading for discussion, or simply sit back and hear fellow attendees lend their voices to the show.
