NC State University’s sweetest tradition, the Chocolate Festival, will be held in Talley Student Union. Hosted by the NC State Women’s Center and in support of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, the Chocolate Festival incorporates one of America’s sweetest treats in an event that supports and educates about breast cancer. Proceeds from the Chocolate Festival will go to support the Kay Yow Cancer Fund and Women’s Center programs and activities. A ticket purchase will allow you to sample a variety of different chocolate items from vendors from around Wake County. There will be games to play, items to bid on, and an opportunity to learn more about breast cancer awareness.
Since our first Chocolate Festival in 2003, the NC State community has been touched by this disease many times over, including Jenny Chang, who was a young NC State alumna and former student body president, and Coach, Kay Yow, who lost her battle with this disease. For us, the Chocolate Festival is a great way to honor those we’ve lost and those who have survived as well as raise funds to help in the quest to find a cure.
Tickets are limited and are based on the number of chocolate samples that we receive. We try our best to have tickets available at the door. However, tickets often sell out in advance. Plan ahead to make sure you can be a part of this great event!
Online Ticket Purchasing: Online ticket sales will begin in late August. If you are attending Parents and Families Weekend you will have the opportunity to purchase tickets through that registration process.
Online ticket sales will close at 5 pm on Thursday, September 19th, unless tickets sell out prior to that date. If available, tickets will be sold at the door on the day of the event. Day off tickets will increase by $5 each ticket. If you purchase tickets online and are unable to pick them up before the event, they will be available at Will Call the night of the Chocolate Festival. Each ticket will allow the attendee six samples. You will be provided with a box in case you can’t eat all six samples. Examples of the six samples can include a thin slice of cake, a mini cupcake, a cookie, two items dipped in the chocolate fountain, etc.
Tickets for the Chocolate Festival can be purchased at the door beginning at 4:30 p.m. on the day of the event. A limited number of tickets will be available.

The Silent Auction will begin at 5:30 p.m. Please feel free to roam about and continue to bid throughout the event. Bids will close at 6:45 p.m. You do not have to be present to win. We will contact you the next week to claim your prize if you are not present. Up to 50% of the profit from the Chocolate Festival is donated to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. Remaining proceeds directly support Women’s Center programming initiatives. Aside from ticket sales, the Silent Auction is one of the primary methods for raising funds at this event. Last year we were able to raise over $3,000 alone in silent auction bids. This would not have been possible without donations from the local community. With over 1,200 attendees, the Chocolate Festival provides a wonderful opportunity to highlight your business. We welcome all donations to the silent auction, no donation is too large. The Chocolate Festival isn’t just about chocolate. It’s also about breast cancer. The Festival will provide attendees with information concerning the prevention, early detection, and treatment of breast cancer with the help of several Raleigh resources. We will need LOTS of help to make this the best festival ever — which means we need you! Please invite your friends and/or family members (this event is a part of Parents & Families Weekend) and consider joining us for a couple hours prior to, during or after the Festival! As an added bonus, volunteers will receive a free t-shirt.
Parking will be available in the Coliseum Parking Deck. This is the parking deck closest to Talley Student Union. It may take you time to actually find a space so that is why we are encouraging vendors to arrive no later than 4:00 p.m.
As noted above, the closest parking to Talley Student Union is the Coliseum Parking Deck. Parking in the deck will be open after 1:00pm for visitors attending Parents & Families Weekend events. No parking permit will be necessary.
The Coliseum Parking Deck is located at 201 Jeter Drive, Raleigh, NC 27695. You can access the deck from Jeter Drive or Jensen Drive. DO NOT enter the deck from Dunn Avenue as this is the pay lot. From Hillsborough Street (do NOT take Dan Allen Drive as there is a gate at the railroad tracks), take Pullen Road to the railroad bridge over the tracks and turn right onto Dunn Ave. From Western Blvd, take Pullen Road to just before the railroad tracks and turn left onto Dunn Ave. Jeter Drive and Jensen Drive both intersect with Dunn Ave.
From the Coliseum Deck to Talley Student Union
Exit the parking deck on the southside, Cates Avenue side. You want to be walking on the Reynolds Coliseum side. When you get to the traffic light, Talley Student Union will be on your right. The Chocolate Festival will be on the 3rd Floor. Follow the pink and brown balloons.
