Women's Center Program Helps Shape Leaders

The Chancellor’s First Year Student Leadership Program (CFYSLP), an initiative of the NC State Women’s Center in conjunction with Chancellor Woodson and Mrs. Woodson, graduated its third class on Monday, November 17, 2014.

Participants in the CFYSLP improve their self-efficacy, self-knowledge, and leadership abilities through information sharing and relationship building in service-based learning opportunities on campus and in the Raleigh and greater community. Students meet weekly over two semesters beginning in the spring of their first year as NC State students. The program is geared toward but not limited or exclusive to historically underrepresented groups, first-generation college students, and students who may not otherwise self-identify as leaders. The application period has closed for 2015 but will re-open in fall 2015.

Cabaret Variety Show Tonight!

The GLBT Center will host its annual Cabaret variety show on Monday, November 24, 2014 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. in the Talley Student Union Ballroom. This event showcases the diversity and talent of the NC State community and features a wide range of performances. This event is free and open to the public. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are not required, but we ask that you RSVP online for the event since we will need to cap attendance. Contact Julius Perkins with any questions.
Come Celebrate Kwanzaa!
Please join Multicultural Student Affairs at the 24th annual Kwanzaa Celebration on the evening of Tuesday, December 2, 2014 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in Witherspoon Student Center. This year, we will celebrate by honoring the principles of Kwanzaa, and feature “The Meeting,” a play detailing the lives and philosophies of human rights leaders, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Malcolm X. There will also be an African dance performance (NC State African Student Union- Botewa) and a Karamu (feast). All are welcome! Please see the flyer for this event.
