NC State Celebrates Asian American History Week

First Annual Campus Celebration to Be Held
A coalition of several groups and individuals have been working to organize campus-wide programs and events for Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) History Week. Represented are those from or with heritage from south, southeast and/or east Asian countries. Please join us for the following events:

Monday, April 6: ASIA ‘Reveal’
Join us at 6:00 p.m. in the Talley Ocracoke Suite for ASIA’s (Asian Students in Alliance) unveiling. All students, groups and leaders are welcome.

Tuesday, April 7: Network with AAPI Faculty & Staff
At 5:15 p.m. in Student Health Center, Room 2301, come network with AAPI faculty/staff and learn how they navigate the university.

Wednesday, April 8: NAAAP Networking Social
At 7:00 p.m. in Innovation Hall’s Entrepreneurship Initiative, network with the NAAAP (National Association for Asian American Professionals) RTP chapter.

Thursday, April 9: Alex Wan:“Out to Lead”
At 6:00 p.m. in Witherspoon 201, come to “Out to Lead: Lessons from an Openly Gay Asian American Engineer, Businessman and Politician” See article at left.

Friday, April 10: I, Too, Am NC State
From 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. in the NC State Brickyard, participate in “I, too, am NC State.” All AAPI students are invited to participate in having their photos taken as part of the photography campaign.

The Clothesline Project
Sexual assault is something that affects all members of our campus. As part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, you are invited to participate in the Clothesline Project. The Clothesline project is for survivors, supporters and allies. Design a t-shirt in support of survivors of gender-based violence that will be displayed at Take Back the Night on April 9, 2015. T-shirts and other materials will be in the Women's Center on March 31 from 3-5 p.m., April 1 from 2-4 p.m. and April 6 from 1-5 p.m. If you are interested in designing a shirt, please stop by or email Sara Forcella.
Community Collection Site for Prom Apparel in Harrelson Hall
The NC State Women's Center is hosting a community collection site for gently used prom/formal dresses, jewelry and purses for students at Cary High School. We hope you will join us! If you have any of these items and are willing to donate, please bring them to Harrelson Hall, Room 324 between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., or feel free to contact Jennifer Castillo for more information. Collection is through March 31, 2015
Register to Participate in Lavender Graduation
Registration is now open for the 2015 Lavender Graduation, an annual ceremony to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of NC State's GLBT graduates. This year's ceremony will take place in Talley Coastal Ballroom on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 from 7:00-8:30 p.m. If you're graduating this spring, summer, or fall, you are eligible to participate. Students do not need to have been involved with any GLBT student organizations or with the GLBT Center in order to participate. Any graduating GLBT undergraduate or graduate student is eligible to participate. Please register online.
